Ukrainian Fintech Startup GRO Chooses Doha for Expansion with Qatari Investment

A Ukrainian AI fintech startup, GRO, has made a significant move by establishing its base in Doha, Qatar, after securing vital backing from local investors. “We came here, met investors and started building relationships,” said the company’s spokesperson. This strategic decision will support the startup’s founder, Snoonu CEO Hamad Al-Hajri, who plans to invest a whopping QAR 500 million (approximately €119 million) into various startups over the next five years.

The launch event, which took place at the Qatar Chamber, saw the participation of key figures including Mansoor Rashid Al-Khater, CEO of the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), and Dr. Olga Rivina, co-founder and chairperson of the Ukrainian Business Forum in Qatar. Their presence underscored the importance of this partnership and the growing business ties between Ukraine and Qatar.

GRO is on a mission to develop an AI-powered financial assistant designed to help users manage their spending, make informed financial decisions, and enhance their financial literacy—all while ensuring that personal financial data remains private. The platform aims to cater to both adults and families, with features for parental controls currently in the works. Privacy is a top priority for the company, as highlighted by Shevchenko, who stated, “It needs to be private for your finances.”

Andrii Kuzmenko, the company’s ambassador to Qatar, welcomed the investment with open arms, emphasizing it as a sign of the strengthening economic relationships between the two nations. Al-Hajri expressed confidence in GRO’s potential, suggesting that it could evolve into a future “unicorn”—a startup valued at over $1 billion (€866 million).
