A lot of the original structure remains intact, including the main concourse and the hospitality areas, but new seating has been added around the court, and the retractable roof has been enclosed. For the event organizers, this transformation is a clear demonstration of how infrastructure developed for the 2022 FIFA World Cup can be adapted for other major sporting events. “So this is the legacy that Qatar is always talking about,” said Rouda Al Ghanim, the Director of Communication for the Qatar 2027 Local Organising Committee, in an interview with Euronews. “Turning some infrastructure and some facilities and venues from one tournament to another tournament and making use of that is sustainable. It’s unique,” Al Ghanim added.
